Kage-shun are a reptilian race in the Vistelo galaxy. They are inextricably tied to their history of war and conquering; even those that have renounced the ways of their ancestors still feel the privilege granted by the empire they have established.
Etymology and Other Names
Kage-shun is a term from their own tongue, meaning "conquering people". Other languages can be less kind in their meaning; the corvician term niagua means "warlords".
Biology and Anatomy
There are two "morphs" of kage-shun. One has a row of spines going down its back, while the other has a small neck frill, like a Triceratops. Skin colors and patterns can vary wildly among kage-shun, with some having naturalistic camouflages of blue-green hues, while others have vivid display colors.
Both morphs have bizarrely dexterous eyes that give them a wider range of vision than most races, long prehensile tails, and long tongues with a sticky end. Their fingers and toes are long and thin, with hooked claws.
Sociology and Culture
Up until a century ago, the kage-shun were a militaristic culture of conquerors, with advanced military technology and large armies routinely sent to pull in new territory. As such, much of Fervidus is current or former kage-shun land, including the most controversial, the island of Bako-chun.
Due to their expansive range, the culture of the kage-shun is a melting pot of different cultures they've conquered.
Kage-shun often emote with their tails. When angry, their tail will lash back and forth, and their skin's color may flush a little more vividly. When at peace or content, their tail will relax and lay on the ground. They will sometimes gesture or point with their tail when talking.
