Traits
No Social Power: Precursors are virtually extinct in modern Ealdremen with an estimated fewer than 1,000 individuals throughout the whole system. When they appear, however rarely, they generally lack the social connections and political power to leverage their place in society. They have -4 to their Social Standing characteristic (minimum 2, maximum 8).
Chrono Attuned: Precursors have a natural affinity for magic. They have +2 to their Chrono characteristic (minimum 4, maximum 14).
Deity Blessed: Precursors are favored by a bygone deity. They have +2 to their Fortune characteristic (minimum 4, maximum 14).
Natural Light: Precursors have an innate glow to their bodies. They have -2 DM to Stealth checks unless they cover their bodies entirely, but in such states, they produce natural light for themselves and people around them, enough to see up to 2 spaces (about 3 meters) in front of them without penalty even in complete darkness.
Resistance to Mortality: Precursors regain an additional 1d6 characteristic points per day through natural healing.
Gifted in Magic: Precursors may gain Chrono (0) as a background skill if they have a positive Education modifier during character creation.
Starfarer: Precursors can survive in zero-atmosphere environments for up to fifteen minutes without harm.
Uncanny First Impression: Precursors are virtually extinct in modern Ealdremen and may generate an initial fear response in those unfamiliar with them. Most species will automatically have an Unfriendly attitude towards precursors, although this is overcome after an individual has interacted with the character for a few minutes, based on the character’s personality and the circumstances of their interaction.
Optional heritage traits
A given precursor character may only choose one of the following traits.
Prototype Clone: Some modern-day precursors are created from scientific experiments and have an issue related to their physiology. They have -2 to their Endurance characteristic, but they have +2 to their Education characteristic as they were taught by their caretakers and creators.
Isolated Lineage: Some precursors are descendants of lineages that have survived to the modern day where they have lived as minorities of minorities with a need for allies. They gain a +2 DM to any Carouse skill check.
