A verge god is a generally immortal being of cosmological power typically occupying portions of deep space, though some have been known to manifest upon planetary surfaces. Some cultures or languages refer to them as "true gods" due to their empirically proven existences, but the term "verge god," with verge referring to their seemingly limitless power, is generally considered the correct term for its lack of perceived "statements" on the nature of deific worship.
Verge gods are given designation numbers and titles; the first several digits before a hyphen represent their "discovery order" relative to other verge gods, with lower numbers indicating an earlier discovery. Numbers after the hyphen, ranked out of nine, indicate the presumed level of danger to the Ealdremen System's continued existence and advancement. Finally, verge gods have a "common name," generally one word or a two-word phrase for further identification in case the original numbers are misheard or miswritten in documentation.
