Chrono Stars (term)

From Chrono Stars

Chrono Stars is the term used to refer to two specific celestial bodies known individually as Eurtune and Rolokus that orbit the sun Usurper in the Ealdremen System. In addition, the term is used for the theoretical existence of other stars similar to Eurtune and Rolokus, though none have yet been discovered. These stars are unlike other stellar objects and have Chrono as their primary material in contrast to the hydrogen and helium of other stars. Not only that, but astronomic evidence suggests that the sheer amount of coalesced Chrono could provide stable ground comprised of the substance, which could hold hitherto-unknown forms of Chrono and other minerals altered by the density of magic in the area. Because of this, Chrono Stars represent vast repository of potential resources that are of keen interest to most major political powers throughout Ealdremen.

While the discovery of the Chrono Stars in 4339 CGC is generally "credited" with starting the war named for them, political scientists and cultural analysts generally agree that conflict had been brewing for at least a decade prior, and the Chrono Stars consequently catalyzed already-existing tensions or otherwise served as justification for previously-made decisions to go to war. However, because of the war surrounding the Chrono Stars, little is definitively known about them, as there is great incentive for opposing political forces to conceal what they know and prevent unaffiliated third parties from studying the Chrono Stars.
